I was really impressed with this book, I knew a lot of the stuff already, but this book really helped consolidate what I knew, and taught me a lot more on top.
I found this book really helped me get into an “SEO Mindset” as it is so comprehensive. I now understand why I am doing things as opposed to just doing them, and have a much better overview of the subject.

When it comes to Google Ranking, and overall raking in search engines, what is the most important SEO activity? How does one accomplish this effectively? Any websites to help?
Thanks!

The most important aspect of SEO is the title tag on your website pages. Within your website code it looks like < title >Put Your Keywords Here….< /title >. Google shows the title tag as the clickable text that is shown in Blue on its search results page.
If you would like to read further about this a good website is http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/title-tag

It’s obvious that SEO is important to every company that has a website, whether they are even aware of it or not. I was just wondering whether there is an “industry standard” in terms of how much SEO related work is generally expected from someone who designs/creates a website for a company that has NOT paid extra for any SEO-specific work.
Thanks!

There is no industry standard for web designers to include seo. A good web designer will make sure the website is seo friendly. This basically means it uses the correct tags such as meta, h1, h2, h3, it is built using css and the page load speed is fast.
SEO is a separate service from web design.
